One of the challenges in diagnosing pets is that they cannot tell us how they are feeling. That is why we invest in state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to help us understand your pet’s symptoms and pinpoint medical issues with the greatest accuracy. In-House Lab Work
Our in-house laboratory enables us to return lab results within minutes, giving us the most immediate access to your pet’s health. In emergency cases, this advantage helps us diagnose your pet’s condition in as little time as possible. In non-emergency cases, such as routine blood work, it can catch medical problems in their early stages, when they are easiest to treat. We offer a range of basic and specialized in-house blood work services, including:
- Complete blood count (red and white blood cell counts)
- Chemistries (to assess the health of the kidneys, liver, pancreas, and intestinal tract)
- Diabetic monitoring
- Feline leukemia virus and FIV testing
- Occult heartworm, Lyme disease, and Ehrlichia disease
To better serve our patients, we recently replaced our blood analyzer with the newly released Catalyst analyzer. The Catalyst enables us to run multiple samples simultaneously, get results sooner, and instantly integrate those results into the patient medical record.
Digital X-Ray
X-ray technology is utilized in both routine and emergency situations to provide images of the heart, lungs, musculoskeletal system, and other internal organs. At Concord Veterinary Hospital, we use digital x-ray instead of traditional film x-ray. Digital x-ray has many advantages over film x-ray, such as:
- Faster acquisition of images
- Better image quality
- Less radiation per exposure
- Images can be sent via the Internet, enabling diagnosis by specialists
- Images easily stored for future reference
All of these factors contribute to our ability to quickly and accurately diagnose medical conditions, elevating the level of patient care we bring to you and your pet.
Ultrasound
Whereas digital x-ray provides clear, two-dimensional images of the size and shape of internal organs, ultrasound gives us a three-dimensional view and lets us examine the interior structure of the organs. Through a painless, non-invasive procedure, ultrasound lets your veterinarian monitor the function of the heart, locate bladder stones, track pregnancies, and much more.
We often recommend pairing ultrasound with x-ray to get the most complete picture of your pet’s health.
