Surgery

As pet lovers ourselves, we understand that the thought of your pet undergoing surgery is stressful. That’s why our veterinarians invest the time to learn the most advanced surgical techniques the field has to offer, such as laser and radiosonic surgery. These cutting edge techniques make surgery much safer for your pet and decrease postoperative pain and recovery time. We also strive to educate our clients on all aspects of their pets’ surgeries. We are glad to answer any questions you may have and will provide you with a post-surgical instruction sheet so you know what to expect following your pet’s surgery.

Surgery is performed Monday through Friday by appointment only, except for emergency cases. We ask that you bring your pet to the hospital between 7:30am and 8:00am on the morning of his or her surgery. Please take away all food and water after 10:00pm the night before your pet’s surgery, unless otherwise instructed by your veterinarian, so that he or she has an empty stomach.

You can read about the benefits of our surgical techniques below. Please give us a call if you have any questions about our surgical offerings or your pet’s own procedure.

Laser Surgery

Laser technology has revolutionized the way veterinarians perform surgery, making surgery much safer for pets. Laser surgery makes incisions with a very concentrated beam of light, rather than a scalpel as in traditional surgery. The laser seals nerve endings and small blood vessels as it cuts, minimizing pain and blood loss. The advantages of laser surgery compared to traditional surgery are:

  • Minimal damage to surrounding tissue
  • Less trauma to the surgical site
  • Minimal blood loss
  • Reduced surgery time
  • Reduced postoperative pain
  • Sterilizes the surgical site as it cuts to reduce chances of infection

The laser can be used for nearly any soft tissue surgery. We are proud to offer this procedure as a safer alternative to traditional surgery for our patients.

Radiosonic Surgery

Radiosonic surgery uses high frequency radio waves at a low temperature to make surgical incisions. This method cauterizes the incisions as it cuts, which minimizes bleeding and prevents the wound from become infected. There are many benefits of radiosonic surgery compared to traditional scalpel surgery, including:

  • Reduced surgery time
  • Minimal blood loss
  • Minimal damage to surrounding tissue
  • Bacteria-free incisions

Altogether, these benefits make surgery much safer for pets, decrease postoperative pain, and shorten the recovery period.
